Christmas is just around the corner and we can’t wait. No city does Christmas cheer quite like London, so we’ve rounded up four great things to do in the city this winter to get you in a festive mood.
Mother Goose at Wilton’s Music Hall
A ‘right rollicking romp’ of a panto at the world’s oldest surviving Grand Music Hall – what could be more Christmassy than that? Mother Goose is the panto this year; it is suitable for all ages and features song, dance and 400 year-old jokes about stuffing.
Wilton’s Music Hall is a stunning venue between Wapping and Whitechapel and is incredible to visit year round, but the fairy lights and panto combo makes Christmas an ideal time of year to visit.
Date: 2nd – 31st December 2016
Address: Wilton’s Music Hall, 1 Graces Alley (pedestrian access only), London, E1 8JB
Tis the season to be jolly, so get all the family involved and visit Santa in Canary Wharf this Christmas. There are plenty of events in Santa’s Grotto for children, including face painting and a Gingerbread Treasure Trail.
Date: Every weekend throughout December and daily from Thursday 22nd December through to Christmas Eve.
Time: 11am – 5pm
Location: Jubilee Place, Canary Wharf, London E14 5NY
The Prospect of Whitby
Are you looking for a cosy pub to adopt this winter? The Prospect of Whitby has an enviable riverside location and is a delightful place to spend an afternoon.
The pub was built in 1520 and used to attract a notorious sort, including thieves and pirates. Today there’s an outdoor terrace with a view of the river, although this Christmas we suggest staying inside. There’s a range of traditional pub food on offer and a wide selection of alcoholic drinks.
Address: 57 Wapping Wall, Wapping, London, E1W 3SH
The Canary Wharf ice rink is now open and you have three months to practice your moves. It’s a great experience even if you’re not a proficient skater; it has a Christmassy feel and we love the 8km of LEDs lighting up the ice.
Date: 4th November – 25th February
Time: Up to 11 sessions per day
Location: Canada Square Park, Canary Wharf, London E14 5AB
