4 festive things to do in Wapping this Christmas
Loving life in Wapping but stuck for ideas of what to do over the winter season? Let us help with four festive activities that are guaranteed to get you in a Christmassy mood.
Mother Goose at Wilton’s Music Hall
A ‘right rollicking romp’ of a panto at the world’s oldest surviving Grand Music Hall – what could be more Christmassy than that? Mother Goose is the panto this year; it is suitable for all ages and features song, dance and 400 year-old jokes about stuffing.
Wilton’s Music Hall is a stunning venue between Wapping and Whitechapel and is incredible to visit year round, but the fairy lights and panto combo makes Christmas an ideal time of year to visit.
Date: 2nd – 31st December 2016
Time: Various
Address: Wilton’s Music Hall, 1 Graces Alley (pedestrian access only), London, E1 8JB
The Prospect of Whitby
Are you looking for a cosy pub to adopt this winter? The Prospect of Whitby has an enviable riverside location and is a delightful place to spend an afternoon.
The pub was built in 1520 and used to attract a notorious sort, including thieves and pirates. Today there’s an outdoor terrace with a view of the river, although this Christmas we suggest staying inside. There’s a range of traditional pub food on offer and a wide selection of alcoholic drinks.
Address: 57 Wapping Wall, Wapping, London, E1W 3SH
St Katharine Docks
A wander around the Docks reminds you of being on holiday, with lots of nice boats to look at and some lovely restaurants to dine in. This Christmas there’s a week-long Christmas Floating Film Festival and we think it’s definitely worth a visit. Sit on bean bags with cosy blankets (there are heaters nearby too!), treat yourself to a mulled wine or a hot chocolate and settle in for a festive film of your choice.
Date: 5th – 11th December 2016

Smith’s
If you love fish, this is where you want to be. Expect great views of the River Thames and Tower Bridge coupled with fresh, delicious food. Set menus start at £24.50 per head, and it’s one of those rare places you could visit for a business meal or a romantic date.
Address: 22 Wapping High Street, London, E1W 1NJ
