5 property facts you need to know about this week
Each week we share five property facts you need to know about. Today we’re looking at first time buyers, asking prices and the value of famous TV and film houses.
1) This time next year, we’ll be millionaires
At the end of last year a home on the council estate in Acton where Only Fools And Horses was filmed sold for £1.1 million. Can you guess what the other famous houses are worth? More here.
2) First time buyers are… buying
The Council of Mortgage Lenders have confirmed an increase in first time buyers, with 2016 showing an increase of 15% in first time buyer purchases compared to 2015. This totalled lending of £53.2bn and is the highest FTB level of borrowing since the CML started recording this in 1974.
3) Asking prices
Asking prices on Rightmove are up 2% this month, but that’s the smallest price rise at this time of year since February 2009. In London the price rise was 2.6%. Data: Rightmove House Price Index.
4) West Hampstead
Not a fact per se, but did you spot West Hampstead Square in CityAM last week? The development was featured at the same time we moved into our temporary onsite office ahead of our West Hampstead office opening shortly.
