80 international teams compete to design new bridge at Nine Elms
Competition is hotting up as 80 teams of professionals from across the world have qualified for the initial stages of the contest to design the new pedestrian and cycle bridge across the Thames, connecting Nine Elms with Pimlico.
The competition was launched last year, when Wandsworth Council challenged architects and engineers to create inspiring, innovative designs for this new river crossing. In a few weeks’ time, the 80 teams will submit their first design ideas which will be on public display, and a shortlist of four will then be chosen by a panel of judges. The winner will be announced in June.
The new bridge will open up the Nine Elms area to the rest of London, connecting residents with the neighbourhood of Pimlico, and beyond. It is just one part of the investment into infrastructure that is taking place in the area, which is tipped to be one of the capital’s’ most sought-after residential destinations. JOHNS&CO has an office onsite at the Ballymore development, Embassy Gardens, where it can host prospective buyers and tenants to discuss the opportunities there and share the marketing suite. Do get in touch with the team if you are interested in finding out more about this exciting new development, where completions are beginning later this year.
