Autumn Statement Update: Letting Agent Fees

Philip Hammond delivered his first – and last – Autumn Statement as Chancellor on 23rd November 2016.

The Chancellor pledged to ban letting fees ‘as soon as possible’ in his Autumn Statement.

A consultation will begin in 2017 and is expected to last at least a couple of months. The bill is likely to be announced in the Queen’s Speech in May 2017, and will then need to be passed by the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

The ban is unlikely to become law until Spring 2018 at the earliest.

We encourage you to share your views with the Government during their consultation process.
