Oldfield Wood – own a piece of history
The year is 1895 and Martians have invaded Surrey, destroying everything in sight with their heat rays...
At least, that’s what H.G. Wells was imagining when he was cycling around the village of Woking whilst working on his literary classic, War of the Worlds. One landmark that he would have gone past on an almost daily basis was St Peter’s memorial home on Maybury Hill, a convent run by the Anglican Sisterhood of St Peter.
