JOHNS&CO team choose their favourite designs for the new Nine Elms bridge

The 74 designs for the new pedestrian and cycling bridge over the Thames at Nine Elms have been attracting a lot of attention in the media over the past week or so. Only four will be in with a chance of going through to the next stage to be considered for construction.

We at JOHNS&CO had a poll to find out which design was the most popular. We had some really fun, and at times, amusing responses, and no one design won out overall.

Our Director of Lettings, Anna Kind voted for No. 42, a sleek design with separate narrow crossings for pedestrians and cyclists.  Our Nine Elms client relationship manager, Jerome Ubando selected the striking No. 8, believing “it looks appealing, and will bring attention to the Nine Elms area”. Jerome is based on-site at our office in Embassy Gardens so will be seeing the bridge on a daily basis.

Chris Osmond, JOHNS&CO City & East London Area Manager chose No. 10, attracted by the park in the middle under a canopy, “a very nice idea”. Sales co-ordinator Letitia Thomas selected No. 29, for the reason that “it doesn’t look like any bridge I’ve seen before!” Newest member of the team, Mikki-Louise Wolff went for the futuristic-looking no. 30, describing it as “pretty, understated, a lovely colour”. Marketing team member Lana Marshall voted for No. 44: “it will have to be smart and minimalist in terms of disruption on the north bank of the river…there is no room on that side for frills and so on…”

Finally, Property Manager Ross Champion explained his choice for No. 18 in straightforward terms: “It’s plain, it’s simple, it’s believable, it’s affordable and it isn’t an eyesore!”

You can review all the designs here and choose which one is your favourite!

Regardless of which design is chosen by the panel of judges later this year, there is no doubt that the new bridge will have a momentous impact on the area, and the desirability of property in Nine Elms. JOHNS&CO have a number of properties available to buy at the Embassy Gardens development in Nine Elms, ranging from studios to two bedroom homes. We are also beginning to promote homes for rental to prospective tenants, on behalf of our investment clients.
