Our Favourite Vauxhall Restaurants & Bars to Visit in London

With some of the most ambitious London developments in the local area which line the Thames, such as Keybridge House, Nine Elms Point and The Tower St George Wharf, Vauxhall is known for its luxury urban developments, amongst its riverside views, green spaces, open nightlife and an eclectic mix of amenities.

Vauxhall is home to some of our favourite restaurants and bars with a great variety to suit any budget and taste, which is why the area attracts many locals as well as clued-up visitors looking to explore the area and get a taste of the tucked-away eateries located nearby.

At JOHNS&CO, we have collated a list of some of our favourite restaurants in Vauxhall, so whether you’re after a fine-dining experience or some good old fashioned pub dining, you’ll know exactly what you’re looking for and where to go.

Fentiman Arms

If gastro pub dining is up your street, then the Fentiman Arms is a fantastic place to head for a spot of Sunday lunch, with some of the best British food in the area. With colourful art, rustic wooden tables and a lively beer garden, the Fentiman Arms has become a chosen local for those living nearby in search for some good old-fashioned pub dining.

Located just a few minutes walk away from the Oval Cricket Stadium, the Fentiman Arms is easily accessible from Vauxhall Station. So, if you’re in the area to watch a cricket game or just passing through Vauxhall, it’s well worth stopping by for a Sunday roast!

24 The Oval

Also located nearby to the Oval Cricket Stadium is 24 The Oval, a townhouse bistro where old fashioned dining meets modern British cooking. The floor-to-ceiling windows and welcoming terrace provides a stunning setting, with the food described by many as Michelin star quality –  rivalled by a warm and friendly welcome from the staff and owner.

With delicious food, a gourmet experience and excellent presentation, the 24 The Oval provides a dining experience to remember. The restaurant also serves up some of the best vegetarian options in the area – we definitely recommend the Vault Mushroom & Spinach Wellington!

Chokhi Dhani

Arguably one of our favourite Indian restaurants in London, Choki Dhani is a sophisticated outlet of Indian street food, Rajasthani plates & modern dishes, not to mention their tasty selection of cocktails and wines!

Choki Dhani is certain to impress with its sheer size, grandeur and style. Immerse yourself in their thalis and indulge in their authentic Rajasthani food, while taking advantage of their elegant surroundings and their shisha terrace.

POTUS

POTUS Bar & Restaurant is set to be the next best American restaurant in Central London, which serves up American food, from delicious mac ‘n’ cheese to juicy, succulent steak.

Paying homage to the American roots, the presidentially themed American restaurant even provides delicious American wines and spirits, with framed pictures of the most historical and monumental presidents of the United States. We would definitely recommend a visit to POTUS for a special occasion or on a swanky Friday night.

US Embassy

Mezemiso

Mezemiso provides an inspired unique fusion of Japanese and Lebanese with panoramic views over the iconic skyline of the River Thames and the Houses of Parliament, from the fifteenth floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. With sushi and delicious tabbouleh, Mezemiso offers top-notch food with signature cocktails at its chic rooftop cocktail bar.

Their menu is based on Japanese and Lebanese traditions, combining unique recipes from both cultures. The Mezemiso Afternoon High Tea is one you won’t want to miss, with flavoursome Lebanese canapes and Japanese Nigiri, to create the perfect blend of the two cuisines.

Brunswick House

Fantastic architecture, roaring fireplaces and candle-lit chandeliers make this Georgian restaurant a highly recommended visit in Vauxhall. Brunswick House really does provide a toasty welcome, despite the Georgian building competing with the very modern developments nearby.

Run by acclaimed chef, Jackson Boxer, Brunswick House is a beautifully romantic spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is well worth a visit, even if it does mean braving the traffic chaos that is the Vauxhall gyratory.
