The best pet friendly developments in London
Searching for the perfect rental apartment can take time and at some points, be tirelessly exhausting too. The average time it takes to find a suitable rental property usually takes around one-two months, for those of us who are searching for pet-friendly rentals, this process can take much longer.
Thankfully, on the 28th January 2021, the UK Government announced that a new standard tenancy agreement would be introduced to help renters find rented accommodation even if they have pets, following on from a rise in renters needing to rehome their furry friends or wait longer to find a pet-friendly property that suits them.
This does mean that if you and your pet(s) are looking for a rental property, you will need to tell your landlord in advance. If they object, they must do so in writing within 28 days of your written pet request. This will need to provide a valid reason, for example, the property size or the property surroundings which would make the property impractical for pets.
While only 7% of private landlords currently advertise pet-friendly properties, this new move will mean that landlords will now be unable to issue a blanket ban on pets. As a nation of animal lovers, it’s excellent to see more London developments becoming pet friendly, with some even offering services to help you look after your pet!
To make the process of your rental property search much easier, we’ve listed some of our top pet-friendly rentals in London so you can find your pawfect place to live in no time.
